Exhibition “Just on time. Design stories about Latvia” told us about Latvian society in various historical moments through its design artefacts. How was the “Latvian identity” established and what was the role of the designer in this process? How has design changed in relation to the welfare of the society? What was the relationship between design and political power like in Latvia?
Latvia was created 100 years ago, it coincided with the time when design became autonomous, differentiating itself from the art field, the architecture, the artisanal practices, and the industrial production.
In addition to the exhibition, a collection of essays and interviews with the same title was released, bringing together stories of eyewitnesses.
